How to use LaunchHarbor · Methods, examples and report help
Test your startup funding assumptions
Contribution margin = revenue per service − variable cost. Monthly surplus = contribution margin × sales + donations − fixed expenses. Runway uses cash remaining after startup expenses.
With a $75 margin, $2,000 fixed expenses and $250 donations, break-even requires 24 sales per month. Compare conservative and optimistic scenarios.
Probability-weighted grants describe a pipeline, not committed funding. Formation, tax exemption and fundraising registration require separate verification.

Common questions
How is nonprofit operating runway calculated?
Runway divides cash remaining after startup costs by the monthly operating deficit calculated from your assumptions. If operations are at break-even or a surplus, the model does not show a finite cash depletion period.
Does a probability-weighted grant count as available cash?
No. Multiplying a potential award by a planning probability gives a scenario estimate, not an award or commitment. Keep unconfirmed grants separate from funds available to spend.
